Starting of as a broad assemblage of studio musicians, Chanson were led by bassist James Jamerson Jr. (son of the famous Motown bassist James Jamerson) and guitarist David Williams. The two of them met while playing with Temptations and they hatched the idea of Chanson.
Together We Stand oozes classic jazzy club tracks that virtually defines the Ariola modern soul style, containing the nice warm harmonies mixes with the smooth jazz-tinged arrangements for a good 70 s modern dancefloor sound. Titles include “Rock Don’t Stop”, “Sing All Night”, “Jack Be Nimble”, “Magic Carpet Ride”, and “Make It Happen”.
Chanson s grooves have held up well over time and this first time re-issue of Together We Stand proves that in 1979, they had no problem keeping it funky.
