Description

Album was widely sampled as “Wild Wild West” was used by Will Smith featuring Kool Moe Dee and Dru Hill from the album Willennium, which is a sample of “I Wish” by Stevie Wonder.

Plus “No Respect” was used on “Don’t Know What To Tell Ya” by Aaliyah from the album I Care 4 U.

Includes 3 Bonus Tracks

Liner Notes by Alex Henderson

Re-Mastered from the Original Master Tapes by Sean Brennan, at Battery Studio’s, New York

Kool Moe Dee resented the fact that in the mid to late 80’s, most of rap’s founding fathers were enjoying little attention. But Dee himself was one of the few exceptions, and the old-school survivor had a major hit with his sophomore effort, How Ya Like Me Now. The album definitely brings plenty of soul and spirit (as well as technique) to this material.

How Ya Like Me Now definitely has its share of classics, including “Wild Wild West,” a reflection on the nitty-gritty environment that surrounded rap during its early years; his denunciation of materialism “No Respect”; and the infectious title song, which was clearly inspired by Dee’s feud with L.L. Cool J.

If you’ve ever heard a dope rhyme from before ’82 then you can sing to the classic that is How You Like Me Now ‘n’ it still seems fresh today – that’s hip hop, that’s Kool Moe Dee !!!
